About Foresight.

Our foresight work is bespoke to the needs of each organisation and is based around your goals as individuals and as an organisation. Foresight can be valuable in a range of situations, such as:

  • supporting strategy reviews,

  • helping teams navigate uncertainty or complexity,

  • uncovering opportunities for innovation,

  • strengthening resilience and risk management, or

  • exploring impact maturity and future-readiness.

Our Approach.

We approach foresight by focusing on the present-future context, meaning we tap into the lessons of the past and the realities of today to explore where things could be heading tomorrow. We’re not about predicting the future, but helping organisations think more intentionally about what might be possible, and how to shape it.

How it works.

We work in a range of ways depending on what’s needed:

  • Introductory workshops. These are often used to build awareness in teams new to futures thinking. They’re interactive, accessible sessions designed to introduce a couple of core techniques that teams can take away and use. They are a great starting point, but we know that sometimes workshop momentum on the day can get lost when day-to-day priorities take over tomorrow.

  • Supported programmes. to help avoid the fall off after workshops, we also offer wraparound support like pre-briefings, follow-up sessions, or hands-on coaching to help embed the thinking and make it stick.

  • Coproduced projects.  Here we combine our experience with analytical tools (like forecasting, sector analysis, or stakeholder mapping) with your experience using exploratory techniques such as (scenario planning and horizon scanning). These projects embed futures and foresight within your organisation and delivers change whether it’s designing a new approach to volunteering, rethinking service delivery, or shifting organisational direction.

What's next

We are about to introduce a new area of work, organisational foresight assessments. These use a psychometric tool developed by a colleague in Australia, designed to help teams understand how teams approach thinking about the future. It’s useful for team development, and can be combined with one-to-one or group coaching to build capability and confidence.
